The Intermittent Community Work Program provides community placement for a female who is in incarceration.
The Intermittent Community Work Program provides a weekend “temporary absence pass” community service placement program for any female resident in Ontario sentenced to an intermittent period of incarceration. The Program is designed to engage the community and create a basis for further community alternatives for women in Ontario. The Program is delivered province-wide, using existing women’s network whenever possible.
Rather than serving their intermittent sentence in a correctional institution, clients are placed at non-profit agencies and perform a specified number of volunteer hours in the community for the requisite number of weekends in their sentence.
The program also serves the community in providing valuable volunteer assistance to non-profit organizations, particularly seniors’ services (i.e. chronic care facilities, nursing homes, etc.).
Any adult female resident in Ontario sentenced to an intermittent period of incarceration. Each client is assessed by the agency for the program upon referral by the appropriate institution.
